
Roan, McCurdy, Smith Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Seniors Ellie Roan and Jada Smith and freshman Nia McCurdy helped the Boston University women's track & field team sweep the Patriot League weekly awards slate on Tuesday.
Roan, a Sebastopol, California native, was named the Field Athlete of the Week after reaching 20.10m in the weight throw and 15.59m in the shot put at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday. Her shot put was a personal best and ranks second in the Patriot League, and her weight throw mark is better than any mark from other PL throwers by over a meter. On top of that, Roan's shot put mark ranks 48th in the NCAA. This is her second time winning the award this season.
Smith, a Wellington, Florida native, was named the Track Athlete of the Week after running a 60m time of 7.60 and a 200m time of 24.25 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. Smith's 60m time is the best in the Patriot League this seaosn and her 200m time only trails classmate Ijeoma Ezechukwu. This is her first award of the season.
McCurdy, a Seattle, Washington native, was named the Rookie of the Week after running a 55.90 time in the 400m at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday. The time ranks third in the Patriot League and first among freshmen in the league. This is her first time winning a PL weekly honor.
Next up, the Terriers will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at the Track & Tennis Center on Saturday (Feb. 7) and Sunday (Feb. 8).
