Women's Track & Field Claims Second Straight Patriot League Indoor Title

BOSTON - The Boston University women's track and field program repeated as Patriot League Champions to claim their 20th conference title in program history. The title is the second under director of track & field and cross country Grant Cartwright in as many years.
On day two, the Terriers turned in 19 medal performances, three meet records and 13 all-time top-10 marks, including a school record.
The Terriers picked up five major awards on the women's side. Senior Peace Omonzane earned Patriot League Field Athlete of the Meet for the third straight year after winning the long and triple jumps with meet records in both events. She is the first woman to ever win the award three times in the indoor season.
Senior Jada Smith was the meet's highest point scorer with 30 points and also was named the Track Athlete of the Meet for the first time in her career. Freshman Kirsten Barnhart was named the Patriot League Women's Rookie of the Meet as well. On top of the athletes' wins, the Terrier coaching staff, headed by director of track & field and cross country Grant Cartwright, was named the Women's Coaching Staff of the Meet.

GOLDEN TERRIERS
- Senior Peace Omonzane set the meet record in triple jump with a mark of 13.21m (43' 4.25") to successfully defend her Patriot League crown. She is the first individual athlete since 2006 to win the triple jump in three consecutive seasons.
- After running a school record time on Saturday in the event, senior Jada Smith ran 7.51 in the 60m dash to take home the gold medal.
- Smith then won the 200m dash, tying the school and meet record of 23.73 in the process.
- BU swept the 60m hurdles with sophomore Iman Roka winning in a time of 8.32 and junior Micah Perry winning with a 7.98. Roka's time set a meet record and is the second-fastest time in program history while Perry's ties the all-time number two mark on the men's side.
- Freshman Zachary Cox was the gold medalist in the 200m with a time of 21.05, the second-fastest mark in program history.
- Junior Karsen Vesty ran 4:05.25 in the mile to take home the gold medal.
- Sophomore Caroline Collins and seniors Olivia Dodds, Lily Borin and Samantha Seabury ran to a gold medal time of 11:31.40 in the distance medley relay which set a meet record and is the fourth-fastest time in program history.
- The 4x400m relay team of freshman Nia McCurdy, seniors Ijeoma Ezechukwu and Jada Smith and sophomore Kendall Barnhart ran a 3:41.24 for a silver medal performance.
- Ezechukwu also finished with silver in the 200m with a mark of 23.93 seconds.
- Senior Ellie Roan threw for 15.70m (51' 6.25") in the shot put to earn the silver medal, setting the second-best mark in program history in the process.
- Junior Madison Sorrell came in third in the shot put with a mark of 14.32m (46' 11.75").
- Senior Moritz Ebbeskotte, sophomore Thomas Cowan, junior Daniel Demonte and Vesty teamed up for the distance medley relay, running 9:49.82 to win silver with the fourth-fastest all-time mark at BU.
- Senior Olivia Dodds ran a school record time of 2:05.15 in the 800m to win the bronze medal.
- Senior Samantha Seabury's 4:44.69 in the mile not only won her the bronze medal, but also the seventh-best time in program history.
- Junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable won bronze in the 3000m with a personal best time of 9:28.98.
- Freshmen Thaden Leomensah, Samuel Anderson, Cox and Nicholas Cappuccio ran a 4x400m relay in 3:13.57 to win bronze.
- Senior Gabe Hickman threw for 17.52m (57' 5.75") in the shot put to win the bronze medal and set the fifth-best mark in BU history in the event.
- Sophomore Brayden Irhuegbae won bronze in the triple jump with a mark of 14.71m (48' 3.25"), the eighth-furthest jump in program history.
- Kendall Barnhart ran 54.82 in the 400m for the seventh fastest time in program history, finishing fourth in the event.
- Caroline Collins (4:45.92) and senior Olivia Duca (4:47.99) both ran personal bests in the mile, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
- Junior Abigail Waddington (9:49.13) and freshman Kayla Kerr (9:50.03) ran personal bests in the 3000m.
- Junior Dakota Wang jumped a personal best of 1.66m in the high jump, finishing sixth in the event.
- Freshman Samantha Lascelles' 2:09.89 in the 800m is the 11th-best time in program history.
- Freshman Kirsten Barnhart finished fourth in triple jump with a mark of 12.20m, the 11th-best mark in program history.
- Leomensah ran 48.45 in the 400m for the seventh-fastest time in program history.
