Terrier Trio Claims All-Patriot League Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping the Boston University men's basketball team finish the regular season with a 7-1 record, three Terriers earned All-Patriot League Team honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Junior Michael McNair (first team), sophomore Ben Defty (second team) and freshman Chance Gladden (third team) all garnered All-Conference recognition for the first time to give BU a league-high three honorees. Defty (All-Defensive) and Gladden (All-Rookie) both earned a second award as well to add to the haul.
Leading BU in scoring at 17.0 ppg, McNair became the first Terrier since 2022 All-PL First Team members Sukhmail Mathon ('22) and Javante McCoy ('22) to score 500+ points in a single season. The Temecula, California, native has delivered most the of the damage from behind the arc, ranking sixth nationally at 45.1 3FG% and eighth overall at 102 made 3-pointers. Highlighted by a pair of seven 3FG performances against Penn State and Army, he's just the fourth Patriot League player to eclipse 100 3FGs and first since the 2015-16 campaign.In total, he's scored at least 20 points 11 times and ranks second on the team at 5.2 rpg with a team-high 35 steals to help earn his first three career double-doubles.
Owner of six double-doubles, Defty is well on his way to shattering a single-season program record for field goal shooting percentage with the nation's current No. 2 mark of 68.4 FG%. He's second on the team at 14.8 ppg and leads the Terriers with 6.7 rpg alongside 52 blocks, the 44th most nationally. In his first career start against Northeastern, the Berlin, Germany, native made his presence felt immediately with a then-career high of 20 points, five blocks and three steals alongside eight rebounds. He followed later with a personal-best 26 points against Lehigh and 24 points at Army.
Averaging 14.0 ppg and 4.8 apg, Gladden is the first Terrier since the 2012-13 season to earn both All-Conference and All-Rookie Team accolades in the same season. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native ranks 64th nationally with 143 assists, which are seventh most among freshmen. He ranks 28th shooting 89.1 percent at the free throw line thanks in part to an impressive 17-for-18 FT performance at Bucknell that led to 34 points. He's claimed two double-doubles with 11 assists (+ 14 pts.) at Army West Point and 12 assists (+10 pts.) vs. Lehigh. Other highlights include scoring the game-winning layup against Harvard and scoring 26 points against both Army and Navy.
The Terriers will next open the PL tournament at home when they host American on Thursday (March 5) with a 7 p.m. tip.
