Lightweight Rowing Prepares For Bicoastal Race Weekend

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program is set for races on both coasts this Saturday (April 25).
Three crews make the cross-country journey for a dual race vs. Stanford at Redwood Shores that begins at 12 p.m. ET and 9 a.m. local time. Other Terriers make the short trek to Lake Quinsigamond with the BU women's openweight team for races against Rhode Island, Delaware and Holy Cross, with the first race the lightweights have entered scheduled for 9:50 a.m.

RACE SCHEDULE AT STANFORD

RACE SCHEDULE AT STANFORD
- 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT – Lightweight 8
- 1:50 p.m. ET / 10:50 a.m. PT – Lightweight 4
- 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT – Lightweight Double
- 9:50 a.m. – Second Varsity 8
- 11:20 a.m. – Second Varsity 4 "A" and "B"
- BU hosted its final race on the Charles River for the spring last weekend against Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT, Sacred Heart and Gordon on April 18.
- The Terriers captured victories in the Lightweight "A" Double and Lightweight 4 "B" categories.
- Radcliffe was the victor in the Lightweight 8 to claim the Beanpot.
- BU's Lightweight Double remains atop the Pocock CRCA Poll as of Tuesday (April 21).
- The Lightweight 8 is in third while the Lightweight 4 shares the fourth spot with MIT.
- The Cardinal enter the weekend with its Lightweight Double ranking fourth in the latest Pocock CRCA Poll while its Lightweight 4 and 8 both in seventh.
- Competing at the Big Ten Invite last weekend, Stanford's Varsity 8 captured first place in both of its flights.
- Earlier in the spring, the Double was victorious over Princeton in a dual race while the Four and Eight crews came in second.
- BU and Stanford will take part in a dual race for the fourth consecutive year and third straight at Redwood Shores.
- In 2025, the Terriers swept all three races with an average margin of victory by over 11 seconds.
- BU finished ahead of the Cardinal in all three races at the 2025 IRA National Championship Regatta as well.
- The Terriers reunite for the 2026 Eastern Sprints on Sunday (May 3) at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
