Boston University's hockey teams have been blessed with
superb defensemen through the years. Going back to the late
fifties, the Terriers had the top two defensemen in the East,
one of them being Bob Dupuis.
In the 1957-58 season, Dupuis teamed with Don MacLeod to
form a formidable blue line tandem. Both players earned All-America
honors and were the co-MVPs of the 1957-58 Terrier team.
For Dupuis, a native of Lynn, Massachusetts and a graduate
of Lynn Classical, the selection to the All-America team climaxed
his career.
His sophomore season, Boston University went 11-11 and was
voted the most improved team in New England. Dupuis was named
All-East and finished with one goal and seven assists.
In his junior year, Dupuis finished third on the team in
scoring with six goals and 19 assists, a figure that was tops
on the team. Once again, he was named All-East.
As a co-captain with Sarge Kinlin his senior year, Dupuis
led the Terriers to a 17-5-1 record and the Beanpot Championship.
It was Boston University's best record in six years and after
two years on the All-East team, Dupuis finally earned All-America
honors.
