STORRS, Conn. — The Boston University women's soccer team suffered a late 2-1 loss to the UConn Huskies on Sunday night.

Senior Samantha Aronson was the lone scorer for the Terriers (1-3-0), as she potted her goal in the 12^th minute to put BU up 1-0 over the Huskies (1-0-2).

After the Huskies dominated possession for the majority of the game, they broke through with a goal in the 87^th minute, then found the winner as time expired in the 90^th minute.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The only shot in the first 10 minutes of action came after junior Olivia Avellar cut inside from the right wing and sent a left-footed attempt wide right in the third minute.
As the Terriers kept pushing the UConn back line, Aronson received a pass and flicked it through her defender's legs to sophomore Georgia Prouty on the left wing. Prouty put a cross in that was deflected to Aronson, who blasted the ball over the goalkeeper's outstretched hand and into the net, giving BU a 1-0 lead in the 12^th minute.
The Huskies did not generate a shot attempt for the first 19:54 of action before ramping up the pressure and posting eight shots in the final 25 minutes of the first half.
In the 32^nd minute, sophomore goalkeeper Jill Humphreys was tested for the first time as UConn let a shot go from 25 yards out that forced the Terrier goalkeeper to dive to her left and stop.
She was then forced to make two saves in ensuing possessions, stopping a close-range attempt in the 36^th minute after a nifty give-and-go play from the Huskies and then shifting to her right to deny another shot from outside the box in the 37^th minute.
Despite the UConn barrage, Humphreys and the Terrier back line held through the stanza.
Humphreys had to go to work again in the 56^th minute, as a UConn shot toward the top of the goal was saved.
BU had its first chance of the second half in the 60^th minute, as Aronson swung a free kick into the box, but Tyburczy's headed redirection went wide.
UConn came right back with a chance in the 63^rd minute, as a ball that was loose in the box was shot just 10 yards from the goal, but Humphreys hit the deck and used her right foot to keep the Terriers ahead.
The first Terrier corner happened in the 65^th minute. Aronson's ball pinballed off multiple players in the box before senior Kat Slott headed it just over the crossbar.
The Huskies were able to equalize in the 87^th minute, and as the clock hit 90 minutes, a long-range shot found the back of the net. A 13-minute review ensued and the referee determined the ball crossed before time ran out.

Humphreys finished with six saves.
The Huskies eight shots on goal compared to the Terriers' one.
Five players played the full 90 minutes for BU: Aronson, sophomore Nina Tzouganatos, senior Helene Tyburczy, freshman Sam Ryan and sophomore Averie Hoff.
