HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU threatened in the first nine minutes with senior Helene Tyburczy's first shot blocked in the seventh minute. Moments later, sophomore Nina Tzouganatos crossed from the left corner to find senior Ava Maguire inside the penalty box, but her shot zipped wide right.
- Carr made two saves in less than 150 seconds at the 12th minute, collecting Bella Miller's shot atop the box on one hop before snagging the off-balance shot from Bella Vozar.
- Maguire had another close-range chance off a corner kick narrowly float wide, then senior Samantha Aronson's shot bounced off the crossbar in the 17th minute.
- Moments later, senior Kat Slott was pulled down in the box and awarded a penalty kick following a lengthy video review. However, she sent the attempt over the woodwork.
- Three minutes later, Vozar was challenged in the box and taken down. Another review turned into a penalty kick, this time for American. Sanders tucked home the shot into the lower-left pocket for a 1-0 lead.
- BU's equalizer occurred when senior Ciara Kennedy settled American's clear attempt down central and found Slott, who gave way to Prouty. The sophomore fended off a marker as she entered the box and beat Molbury with a left-footed shot into the right corner in the 30th minute.
- With under four minutes until halftime, Avellar caught up to a stretch pass in the right corner and placed a right-footed cross at the end line towards a sprinting Schwinn-Clanton by the left post. In stride, the latter headed home the shot to push BU in front, 2-1.
- Both teams came out firing in the second half's opening minutes. Humphreys punched away an Eagle cross and Amaya Peterson eventually missed on a shot. On BU's counter, Aronson's 15-yard shot was blocked right before the goal line in the 47th minute.
- Slott worked free down central in the 53rd minute to unleash a 25-yard shot. Molbury needed to dive to her right to make the save.
- American initially blocked Maguire's cross in the 67th minute, but Aronson caught up to the loose ball for a rolling shot that rolled wide left.
- Prouty nearly added the brace in the 79th minute when her shot on the left side of the 18-yard box was blocked. On the ensuing Terrier corner, Tybruczy's header was off the mark.
- With four minutes remaining, Molbury redirected Kennedy's 15-yard shot over the woodwork. That led to two BU corners, the second of which saw Schwinn-Clanton flicking a ball by the left post on net that Molbury leaped to deflect.
- Shots favored the Terriers, 30-7, marking a new season high and the first time reaching 30 shots in a game since Oct. 4, 2025 against Lafayette.
- BU also sported 13 shots on goal compared to four for American.
- The Terriers generated 11 corner kicks to the Eagles' two.
- BU won the possession battle at 62 percent while spending 68 percent of its time with the ball in American's end of the field.
- Two yellow cards were assessed to the Eagles.
- Prouty, who missed the previous game, scored for the first time since the game-winner against Navy on Sept. 19. She is the fourth Terrier this season sporting at least three goals.
- Schwinn-Clanton joins Kennedy and freshman Sam Ryan as the third Terrier to pot her first collegiate goal in 2026. She collected her first point since her BU debut on Aug. 17, 2025.
- In six Patriot League matches, BU has outshot opponents 115-45 while registering a 46-15 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Terriers improve to 12-0-3 against American in program history.
- BU meets Holy Cross in a Turnpike Trophy clash in Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Oct. 23. Opening kick is scheduled for 4 p.m.
