Paul Farren
Sport: Football
Year Graduated: 1983
Year Inducted: 1995

After playing a limited role during his first two years, Paul Farren established himself as one of the Yankee Conference's more dominant offensive linemen during his final two years with the Terriers, before enjoying a stellar 10-year career with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL.

The autumns of 1979 and 1980 were heady days for the Boston University football team which registered a two-year mark of 17-3-1. However, much of the club's success was lost on a little known lineman by the name of Paul Farren, who was listed at tackle on the 1980 roster, and started a pair of games.

During the spring workouts of 1981, Farren was switched to center, and quickly made his presence known based on his blocking expertise. Although the Terriers registered a 6-5 record in 1981, Farren's ability to handle the opposition's defensive line enabled former Terrier Gregg Drew to rush for 1,257 yards.

The following year, Boston University posted a misleading 5-6 overall mark, which included four losses by a total of nine points. At 3-2 in the Yankee Conference, the Terriers gained a share of first place, and received the school's first bid to the NCAA 1-AA Football Tournament, where they bowed to Colgate in the opening round.
Farren, who had returned to his former spot as offensive tackle, led an offensive line which accumulated 224 first downs, and provided the Terriers with the most feared rushing attack in the Yankee Conference. Behind his blocking, former Terrier Paul Lewis rushed for 1,316 yards.

Farren's contributions were recognized at the annual team banquet, where he was presented with the Agganis Award as the Team's MVP - a rare accomplishment for an offensive lineman.

In addition, he received First Team All-Yankee Conference and Second Team All-New England honors.

Upon graduation, Paul Farren commenced a ten-year stint with the Cleveland Browns, where he started 135 career games, and was named the Team's Lineman of the Year in 1988 and the Offensive Lineman of the Year in 1989.
