Clinical Sport Psychology
About Us
The Clinical Sport Psychology (CSP) program within Boston University Athletics integrates the principles of clinical and counseling psychology with performance psychology to support both the mental health and performance needs of BU student-athletes, teams, and coaches. The intents of these services are to promote healthy psychological functioning, character development, optimal performance, and to contribute to a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging within the athletic department and broader campus community. Simply put, CSP helps student-athletes succeed both on and off the field by supporting their mental health, personal development, and athletic performance.
The CSP program offers support to all Boston University varsity student-athletes, teams, and coaches.
The BU Athletic Department maintains a strong, collaborative partnership with Student Health Services Counseling and Psychiatry Services (CAPS) to deliver comprehensive and integrated mental health and performance psychology services to BU student-athletes. The CSP program is a branch of CAPS and serves to connect athletics to campus wide resources for health and wellness.
