Former BU club lacrosse captain Al Lattell joined the men's lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant before earning a promotion to director of lacrosse operations.

Lattell has been with the Terriers since 2013 as a volunteer assistant coach for the men’s lacrosse team. He coordinated team travel and camps in addition to his gameday duties on the BU sideline. Lattell helped coach the faceoff specialists, including rising junior Sam Talkow, who was an All-Patriot League selection in 2015, and was responsible for organizing the Terriers’ in-game substitutions.

In his new role, Lattell will oversee day-to-day operations of both BU lacrosse programs. He will continue to coordinate travel as well as oversee student managers and handle alumni relations. In addition, he will head up both teams’ community service and outreach as well as help with on-campus recruiting.

Lattell was the first BU alum to join the men's coaching staff and has been involved with the club lacrosse program since he entered the university as a freshman in 2004. He played four seasons with the club team and was captain in 2007 and 2008. After graduating in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in political science, Lattell stayed with the Terriers as an assistant coach and has been in that role for the last four seasons.

In addition to his duties with BU club lacrosse, Lattell worked as a director of operations at a law office in Needham, Mass. He has also been active in the community, serving on the board of directors for the annual Cradle for a Cause charity lacrosse tournament. Lattell also earned a master's in education from UMass Boston in 2012.

A native of Longmeadow, Mass., Lattell currently resides in Boston.
