August 25, 2025 | Men's Lacrosse
JEJU ISLAND, Korea - Junior Murphy McLaughlin, sophomore Timothy Shannehan and sophomore Kaidan Suh all shined at the World Larcrosse Men's U20 Championship, which took place from August 15-24.
Shannehan helped Team USA win silver, as the Americans fell to Canada, 6-5, in the gold-medal game. McLaughlin was a key part of the Ireland squad that finished ninth while Suh helped the host Koreans finish 14th. BU was the only Patriot League school to have a player on three countries.
The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Shannehan was tied for seventh among all players with 24 points on 12 goals and 12 assists. Ten of those points (3g, 7a) came in an impressive 26-0 win over England in the quarterfinals. Shannehan is the first Terrier to win a medal at this tournament.
McLaughlin finished the tournament with 20 caused turnovers and nine ground balls as part of a stifling Irish defense that held opponents to just 3.83 goals per game. Half of McLaughlin's 20 caused turnovers came in one game, as he had 10 takeaways in a 13-1 win over China. Suh was a menace all over the field for Korea, recording 11 caused turnovers and seven ground balls in addition to one goal and one assist.
