BURLINGTON, VT -- Backed by the strong performances of senior Abigail Clark (Baltimore, MD), junior Corey Cooper (Springfield, VA) and freshman Karissa Lopez (Santa Fe, NM), the Boston University women's swim team won it's third straight meet, defeating Vermont, 211-73. The 211 points scored was the most by the Terriers this season and the most since a 219-71 victory over Vermont last January 23. BU is now 4-2 on the season.
Clark, Cooper and Lopez were all double-winners for the Terriers. Clark placed first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:07.43) and the 100-meter freestyle (55.10). Cooper won the 200-meter fly (2:13.93) and the 500-meter freestyle (5:23.80). Lopez took first in the 100-meter fly (1:00.30) and the 200 IM (2:15.23).
The Terriers' 200 free relay team of freshman Margaret O'Neill (Chattanooga, TN), junior Amelia Finnerty (New Fairfield, CT), sophomore Christina Chen (Tacoma, WA) and junior Christina Shipman (Amber, PA) scored an impressive win to close out the meet. The team took first in a time of 1:33.17, more than nine seconds better than the second place time of 1:42.45, also by the Terriers.
Next up, the women are home for the first time this century to face rival Boston College on Tuesday, January 25. The Terriers were on the losing end of a 182-117 score last season and will look to reverse that outcome on Tuesday.
