Women's Soccer Streak Ended By Princeton, 1-0
October 15, 2000 | Women's Soccer
The record-breaking win streak ended at seven games for the Terrier women's soccer team as it was blanked by host Princeton, 1-0, on Sunday (October 15th).
The last time the Terriers lost a game was on September 20th when they were shut out by Dartmouth, 3-0. Since then, they have wins over Hofstra, Drexel, New Hampshire, Maine, Fairfield, Central Connecticut, and Northeastern.
The loss to Princeton dropped B.U.'s overall record to 9-5-0, while the team is 5-0-0 in the league.
The Terriers still have one more non-conference game left on the schedule-Wednesday (October 18th) at Harvard before they conclude their regular-season with four straight games against America East rivals.
It is interesting to note that in four of the five losses B.U. has suffered this year, it has failed to score a goal. The shutout losses were to the University of Pacific, 1-0, Brown, 1-0, and Dartmouth, 3-0, before Sunday's defeat at Princeton. The only game in which the Terriers have scored a goal and still lost was to Boston College. Playing the Eagles in the first game of the ECAC Women's Soccer Classic, B.U. scored twice but it was not enough as it lost to BC, 4-2.
In Sunday's game at Princeton, Kelly Sosa scored her first goal of the season in the 14th minute and Jordan Rettig notched her seventh shutout as the Tigers improved to 10-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Ivy League.
Freshman Jessica Clinton played the first half of the game in goal for B.U., had one save, and was charged with the loss. Junior Danielle Demers played the second half, had one save, and did not allow any goals.
