BOSTON (March 21) - Boston University freshman Freddy Meyer, a resident of Sanborville and former standout at Cardigan Mountain, was named to the Hockey East All-Freshman Team after scoring one goal and 10 assists for 11 points in only 22 games with the Terriers. He is twelfth on the team in total points and is tied for the most assists for freshmen with 10 entering the NCAA Eastern Regionals this weekend in Albany, New York.
Meyer joined B.U. halfway through the 1999-2000 season.
"Freddy came in second semester and has played every game since," said head coach Jack Parker. "His impact was immediate on the power play and the man down."
Meyer spent his freshman year at Cardigan Mountain before being selected to play for the U.S. National program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He played on the U.S. under-16 team, under-17 team and the under-18 team.
Meyer graduated in three-and-a-half years from Huron High School and entered Boston University for the spring semester.
The Terriers will play St. Cloud State this Saturday, March 25th at 12:00 p.m. The winner will play St. Lawrence on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The Terriers won the regular-season Hockey East championship and are currently ranked fourth in the nation.
Meyer is the son of Frederick and Patricia Meyer from Sanbornville. His father is a mason contractor and his mother is a hair stylist.
