September 28, 2001 | Women's Soccer
The Terrier women's soccer team suffered just its second loss of the season on Thursday (September 28th) as it dropped a 4-0 decision at the University of Utah. B.U., which will close out its two-game trip to Utah on Saturday (September 29th) when it plays at Brigham Young University, is now 4-2-1 this season.
Utah, which improved to 4-2-0, broke the game open with three second-half goals and outshot the Terriers by a 10-2 margin over the final 45 minutes of action.
The first half was even with the exception of a Utah goal scored by Amy Kofoed at the 11:49 mark. It was the 36th goal of Kofoed's career, leaving her just two goals shy of the school record.
Statistically, Utah had just a one-shot advantage in the first half, 5-4, and a slim margin in corner kicks, 2-1.
However, the Utes dominated play in the second half, as Missy Dennis scored twice for the winners and Julie Herdic scored once. Dennis' first goal came 69:34 minutes into the match. Less than minutes later, at 72:27, she scored again to give Utah a 3-0 lead. Herdic closed out the scoring at 87:41.
Jessica Clinton had three saves and was charged with the loss, while Courtney Hills had three saves in a winning effort for Utah.
It marked the second time this year the Terriers had been shut out. The first was on September 5th when they lost to Quinnipiac, 1-0.
