HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duffy gained possession at midfield and sent a through ball to Rogers down the left slot. The latter walked alone on BU goalkeeper Bridget Carr and found the lower-right corner of the net while staying onside for a 1-0 Army West Point lead just 3:03 into the match.
- The Terriers didn't register a shot until the 29th minute when sophomore Alli Powderly's try was blocked from outside the box.
- Minutes later, junior Samantha Aronson collected a through-pass from senior Mackenzie Stickelman. Aronson's first shot was blocked, but she collected the loose ball for another try that Dahl smothered.
- Army extended its lead in the 38th minute when Duffy drew three markers near the right post. The ball found Henry alone for an eight-yard shot that zipped past Carr.
- On the Terriers' next offensive possession, freshman Georgia Prouty's cross met junior Kat Slott's header in the box, but it ringed off the crossbar.
- Henry threatened with a brace in the 42nd minute from six yards away, but Carr leaped to send the shot over the woodwork.
- BU ignited the second half with multiple offensive chances in the opening minutes. Avellar's rolling shot atop the box was blocked in front, then a 25-yard rocket from Gianino carried over the bar.
- Maguire sliced the deficit in half in the 58th minute. Off a Black Knight goal kick, senior Margy Porta collected the second touch and gave off to Gianino down central. The senior fed Maguire in the box for a left-footed finish into the lower-right corner.
- Carr made another leaping save in the 79th minute to redirect Megan Youngberg's attempt.
- In the 82nd minute, Roger volleyed a pass to Duffy to the left of the Terrier box. Duffy gave off to Rogers and the latter found nylon to make it 3-1 Army.
- The Terriers responded 50 seconds later when Maguire crossed the ball from the left corner to the far post. Avellar connected on the header to beat Dahl and pulling BU within 3-2.
- BU outshot Army West Point, 18-9. Both sides posted six shots on goal.
- The Terriers also had the 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Possession leaned in the Terriers' favor at 54 percent. BU spent 57 percent of its possession in Army's end.
- Nine Terriers played over 60 minutes. Carr, Stickelman, Gianino, Powderly, senior Helene Tyburczy and freshman Nina Tzouganatos played the entire match.
- Maguire scored three goals in the Patriot League Tournament. Gianino supplied four assists.
- Gianino's 15 assists in 2025, a BU single-season program record, is tied for the third-most in a year for a Patriot League student-athlete.
- Avellar boosted her points streak to five consecutive contests.
- The Terriers allowed their first goal at home since Aug. 21.
- Army West Point earned its first win over BU in the Patriot League Tournament. The all-time series remains in the Terriers' favor, 12-4-2.
