HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Olivia Avellar rattled off the game's first two shots in the seventh minute. Her first shot atop the box was blocked before the second 15-yard try one-hopped to McFarland near the right post.
- Bucknell took the lead when McFarland sent a booming kick to midfield, where Sutter flicked the first touch forward towards Parker. Carr came out of the box to collect the ball, but missed on the play, allowing Parker to tuck home the first goal 8:09 into the match.
- BU continued to pressure McFarland with shots from sophomore Nina Tzouganatos and senior Kat Slott inside the box placed right onto the Bison keeper in the 14th and 18th minutes, respectively.
- In the 25th minute, the Bison threatened on consecutive corner kicks. Tzouganatos redirected Emma Gavin's try on the goal line before Carr punched out the second insert.
- Six minutes later, Slott kept the ball in play on the end line in the right corner and gave off to freshman Josie Myers, who flicked an 8-yard shot narrowly wide of the right post.
- Freshman Sam Ryan operated into the box in the 39th minute when Caitlyn Scott took down the rookie, awarding the Terriers a penalty kick. Aronson beat McFarland to the right pocket for the 1-1 equalizer.
- BU generated its first corner kick of the second half in the 55th minute. The Terriers maintained possession to allow Aronson to zip a 25-yard blast towards McFarland, who snagged the try.
- Gaining possession at midfield and taking a pass from Louisa Thomsen, Sutter worked free down the right slot in the 61st minute, dishing off to Parker for a left-footed shot that beat Humphreys to the lower-left corner for a 2-1 Bison edge.
- In the 78th minute, Avellar found a way to cross the ball from the right corner off the woodwork and towards senior Ava Maguire by the left post. However, the officials waved the Terrier offside.
- Maguire had an opportunity for a shot four minutes later thanks to classmate Helene Tyburczy's stretch pass into Bucknell's box, but the former sent the shot wide left in stride.
- Ten of BU's 14 shots came in the first half.
- Shots on goal favored the Terriers, 7-5.
- Saturday featured just six combined corner kicks, with BU generating four.
- Tyburczy, Tzouganatos and juniors Maddie Green and Alli Powderly all played the full match.
- Aronson registered her first goal since Aug. 23 at UConn. She has matched her career high with two goals this season.
- Humphreys collected her first save since Sept. 10 in the 84th minute.
- Myers appeared in a match for the first time since Aug. 16 at UAlbany, making Saturday her collegiate home debut.
- BU has lost three straight conference games for just the second time in program history and first time since 2019.
- Bucknell now sports a 9-7-4 edge in the all-time rivalry against the Terriers.
- BU heads to American next Saturday, Oct. 17. Opening kick is scheduled for 1 p.m.
