HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU generated its first chance in the 12th minute, when junior Olivia Avellar won the game's first corner. The insert traveled to Slott by the right post, but Goetzer lined it up for the save.
- The Greyhounds had consecutive opportunities around the 21st when a header off a 30-yard free kick zipped wide right. Moments later, Carr crouched to scoop up Katie Ormerod's shot near the top of the box following a takeaway deep in BU's zone.
- In the 34th minute, senior Ciara Kennedy drilled a left-footed, 20-yard strike towards the upper-right corner, but Goetzer leapt to redirect it. On the ensuing corner, Ryan met the inset at the left post, but she could not connect on a clean shot.
- With halftime approaching, junior Jaiden Schultz tip-toed the end line and dished off to sophomore Georgia Prouty. Goetzer rejected Prouty's one-timer from three yards away to keep the match scoreless at halftime.
- Loyola Maryland commanded possession in the second half's opening minutes, which included Manset's 25-yard blast ricocheting off the crossbar three minutes into the stanza.
- BU broke the ice when Slott was able to poke the ball away from two Greyhound markers to find Ryan, who one-timed an off-balance shot with enough velocity to beat Goetzer for a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
- Kennedy attempted to double the Terriers' tally with a direct kick from 15 yards away in the 70th minute, but Goetzer lined up the attempt for a save.
- Loyola's final chance arrived with Manset's curling shot from 25 yards out that deflected off Carr for a corner kick. However, no one was available to meet the insert near the right post.
- BU recorded an 11-7 advantage in shots and 7-3 in shots on goal.
- All four of the Terriers' corner kicks came in the first half.
- BU was not issued a yellow card in the match and did not concede a foul in the second half.
- Possession favored BU at 55 percent. Loyola Maryland only spent 10 percent of its time with the ball 20 yards and closer to BU's net.
- Carr, Kennedy, Ryan, sophomore Nina Tzouganatos and BU's back line of senior Helene Tyburczy, junior Alli Powderly and sophomore Averie Hoff played all 90 minutes.
- Ryan scored her first goal since Aug. 30 against San Francisco. She has played at least 70 minutes in all but one of her 11 appearances while playing the entire match five times.
- Slott boosts her points streak to three consecutive games. She earned her first assist since Oct. 4, 2025 against Lafayette.
- Carr now has contributed to 11 shutouts in her 31-game career.
- The Terriers registered their first clean sheet in 2026.
- BU improves to 10-2-5 against Loyola Maryland, picking up its first victory in Baltimore since Oct. 22, 2022.
- The Terriers host Army West Point in a rematch of the 2025 Patriot League Championship on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m.
