HOW IT HAPPENED
- Slott needed just 3:48 to score the game's first goal as Lafayette could not clear the ball down central in the box. Slott collected before flicking a left-footed shot into the lower-right corner of the goal.
- Junior Jaiden Schultz nearly made it a two-goal match in the ninth minute on a run down the left post. Apker crouched to deny her attempt to tuck home a shot into the left post.
- The Leopards countered moments later as BU had issues clearing the ball in its own end. Zaffanella collected before lifting a shot wide right. Carr later made her first save on another Zaffanella chance in the 16th minute.
- In the 21st minute, the Terriers earned their first corner. The insert was briefly deflected before finding junior Maddie Green from 15 yards out. She poked a rolling shot that beat everyone but bounced off the left post.
- Junior Alli Powderly helped the Terriers withstand multiple Lafayette clear attempts and raced into the box for a cross that found classmate Olivia Avellar, but the one-timer floated right to Apker in the 58th minute.
- BU generated three corner kicks in a two-minute span around the 71st minute. Lafayette's defense held the Terriers without a shot.
- Three minutes later, Schultz leaped to meet a cross into the penalty box for a flick towards the net, but it rang off the right post.
- Eva Acker whipped her own shot off the crossbar in the 80th minute, but Zaffanella met the rebound and finished for the equalizer.
- Plowright's header bounced off the right post in the 81st minute. Carr then dove to deny Alle Hughes.
- After Apker collected Ryan's shot from atop the box, the Leopards countered with Zaffanella finding Plowright on a through ball from the left sideline. Plowright beat the defense and scored with 4:29 remaining for the game-winner.
- Both teams had five shots on goal.
- The Terriers took four of their five corner kicks in the second half.
- Possession favored BU at 56 percent.
- Lafayette was assessed two yellow cards while BU was issued one.
- Carr, Powderly, Ryan, senior Helene Tyburczy and sophomore Nina Tzouganatos played the full match.
- Slott has a point in five of her last seven appearances. She is one of two Patriot League student-athletes with six or more goals this season.
- BU drops to 3-4 on the road this season.
- The Terriers have lost consecutive Patriot League matches for the first time since the 2019 season.
- BU remains ahead in the all-time series against Lafayette at 12-2-2 as the Leopards defeated BU for the first time in seven years.
- The Terriers host Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 10 for their Breast Cancer Awareness Game. Opening kick from Nickerson Field is slated for 1 p.m.
