Rams Second-Half Rally Quiets #9 Terriers, 2-1

Kingston, R.I. - Perek Belleh scored with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to give the University of Rhode Island men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over ninth-ranked Boston University on Saturday afternoon in Kingston, R.I.
With their second consecutive loss, the Terriers fall to 4-3-1 on the season, while the Rams improve to 5-3-0.
Sophomore forward Chris Khalifa (Cairo, Egypt) scored his first collegiate goal to put the Terriers on the board first, converting on a miscue by Rams' goalkeeper Michael Charles at 27:17.
The Terriers held a 1-0 advantage at halftime despite being out-shot, 10-1, in the first half.
Peter Benevides fired a shot from 20-yards out to tie the game at 1-1 at 54:21. Ross Smith was credited with the assist.
Benevides, off a long pass from Sasha Gotsmanov, sent a cross into the box and Belleh slid the ball into the right corner of the net to give the Rams a 2-1 lead at the 85:48 mark.
Charles earned the win with two saves. Terrier senior goalkeeper Matt Smith (Lanchester, England) made six saves in the loss.
The Rams had the advantage in both shots (18-7) and corner kicks (9-2).
The Terriers will look to stop their two-game skid when they host #14 San Diego on Friday, October, 4. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Nickerson Field.
