Women Swimmers and Divers Cruise To Win Over Maine

BOSTON, MA-The Terrier women's swimming and diving team took 14-of-16 first-place finishes to cruise to an easy 195-104 win over conference rival University of Maine on a snowy, windy Saturday afternoon.
It was the second straight win of the season for the Terriers, who are off now until January 4th when they swim at the Forum Classic in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sophomore Lidija Breznikar (Kotpje, Slovenia) turned in another outstanding performance, leading the team once again with wins in three individual events and in a relay. Breznikar took the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12:05, the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26:91, and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12:39, maintaining her undefeated streak over the course of six meets in those events.
She then teamed with junior Lauren Foster (Lake Quivira, KS), freshman Tanaz Irani (Orlando, FL), and sophomore Meagan Breiland (Mesa, AZ) to win the 200-yard medley in 1:53:01 minutes Breiland also had an outstanding meet winning two individual events and anchoring two victorious relays. She captured both sprint freestyle events-the 50 in :25.07 and the 100 in :54.56. Then, in addition to the 200 medley relay, she anchored the 400 freestyle relay that included Foster, sophomore Kila Englebrook (Mechanicsburg, PA), and freshman Marina Morie (Honolulu, HI). The four swam the event in 3:42.10.
The Terrier women swept the top positions in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. Irani won the butterfly in 1:00:98 minutes, followed by Foster and sophomore Hannah Mulry (Macungie, PA), while junior Courtlandt McKinlay (Cheshire, CT) dominated the breaststroke in 1:12:98 minutes, while sophomore Brittnye Kusmick (Strongsville, OH) and freshman Ryan Kenney (Springfield, MA) finished just behind. The diving team, comprised of seniors Stacey Gallacher (Horseheads, NY) and Kristin Stratton (Ann Arbor, MI) and freshman Meagan White (Falmouth, ME), turned in another flawless performance in sweeping the top three spots in both the one- and three-meter diving events.
In the one-meter, Gallacher tallied 301.42 points, while Stratton had 255.75 and White finished with 233.72. Then, in the three-meter dive, Gallacher had 258.45 points, followed by Stratton (242.10) and White (227.40).
