Terriers Picked Second In Coaches' Pre-Season Poll

BOSTON - The Terrier men's soccer team was selected to finish second in America East, according to a pre-season poll conducted by the conference's coaches.
Defending America East Champion Northeastern was picked first in the poll with 80 votes, including eight of a possible nine first-place votes. Coaches are not permitted to vote on their own team.
B.U. trailed the cross-town rival Huskies with 66 votes and one first-place vote. New Hampshire also received one first-place vote and totaled 56 votes to place third.
Vermont was picked to finish fourth with 55 votes, followed by Hartford in fifth with 54, and conference-newcomer UMBC in sixth with 45 votes. Albany (37), Binghamton (25), Stony Brook (17), and Maine (13) rounded out the field of 10 teams.
The Terriers return eight starters and 19 letterwinners from the 2002 squad that finished with an 8-6-3 overall record and a 3-3-1 mark in league play.
B.U. opens its 2003 slate at the University of South Carolina on Friday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m. The Terriers play their first home game against rival Boston College on Monday, September 1, at 7:00 p.m.
