Minutemen Defeat Terriers With Second Half Rally, 5-1

Amherst, Mass. - Ptay Meyers scored two goals to lead the UMass men's soccer team to a 5-1 victory over visiting-Boston University on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
With the game knotted at 1-1 early in the second half, the Minutemen scored four unanswered goals in a span of 16 minutes to pull away with the victory.
Earning its third straight win, UMass improves to 4-2-0. B.U. falls to 2-4-0.
Andrew Eicher scored on a shot from 20 yards out to give UMass at 1-0 advantage at 41:54. Ralph Pace and Oral Bullen were credited with the assists.
B.U. answered after the halftime break as senior forward Alan McNarama (Woodview Raheem, Ireland) fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net at 51:12. McNamara's goal, his first of season, would be the Terriers' only score off nine shots.
Gabe Barnard netted the first of the four second-half goals for the Minutemen, scoring off a feed from Dan Colwell at 53:38.
Colwell followed with his own goal off a feed from Eicher, extending the lead to 3-1 at 59:31.
Meyers tallied back-to-back goals in the 65th and 69th minutes to round out the scoring for the Minutemen.
Nick Billman earned the victory for UMass with three saves.
Freshman Zach Riffett (Brenham, TX) made four saves for the Terriers.
