BOSTON - Senior midfielder Andrew Dorman (Flintshire, Wales) was selected with the 58th pick by the New England Revolution in the 2004 MLS Superdraft held in Charlotte Convention Center on Friday, Jan. 16.
The three-time All-New England and America East All-Conference honoree was the eighth pick in the sixth and final round of the draft with each round consisting of 10 selections.
Dorman becomes the 10th player to join the professional soccer ranks, and the third player in B.U. history to be drafted by a Major League Soccer team. Mike Emenalo ('90) played for the San Jose Clash and Francis Okaroh was a member of the Chicago Fire, Miami Fusion, and the Revolution.
"I think this is a great opportunity to represent Boston University," Dorman said after hearing the news of his selection during a workout this afternoon.
"B.U. has done so much for me over the last four years, I hope I can get out there and represent the school."
During the 2003 season, Dorman led the Terriers and ranked fourth in the nation in assists, with 12 in 17 games for a 0.71 assist per game average. He also led B.U. in scoring with 18 points and was tied for fourth on the team in goals with three.
Over his four-year tenure, Dorman set a B.U. record with 37 career assists. He ranks seventh on B.U.'s career scoring list with 22 goals and 37 assists for 81 points.
