Women Swimmers Drop Meet To Black Bears, 193-107

ORONO, ME-The women's 400 freestyle relay turned in its best time of the year, while Brooks Wallace won both dives, but it was not enough as the Terrier women's swimming and diving team took just five first's en route to a 193-107 loss to host University of Maine on Saturday, Dec. 11.
The foursome of juniors Kila Englebrook (Mechanicsburg, PA), Meagan Breiland (Mesa, AZ), and Natalie Boyd (Pittsburgh, PA), along with senior Lauren Foster (Lake Quivira, KS) was timed in a season-best 3:40.05 en route to its winning the 400 freestyle relay. Englebrook opened the relay with a time of :55.92. She was then followed, in order, by Breiland (:55.67), Boyd (:54.39), and Foster (:54.09).
The only other swimmer to win her event was freshman Elizabeth Ariazi (Adams, MA), who beat the field in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.75.
Wallace (Duxbury, MA) won both the one- and three-meter dives to account for the Terriers' other two first-place finishes.
She led a 1-2-3 in the one-meter event with 264.08 points. Senior Kathleen Cunningham (West Islip, NY) was second with 229.73 points, while freshman Megan White (Falmouth, ME) was third with 216.30 points.
In the three-meter dive, Wallace had 290.25 points, while White was second with 253.20 points.
In addition to swimming on the winning 400 freestyle relay, Boyd also finished second in both the 200 free (1:58.15) and the 500 free (5:18.33).
Other second-place finishers were freshman Kate Buchta (Nashua, NH) and sophomore Lauren Cammisano (Hinsdale, IL). Buchta was second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:21.58, while Cammisano was runnerup in the 1000 free in 11:15.65.
