September 10, 2004 | Men's Basketball
BOSTON - Seniors Rashad Bell (Queens, N.Y. / St. Francis Prep) and Chaz Carr (Manchester, Conn. / Manchester), along with junior Shaun Wynn (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Xaverian) were named captains of the 2004-05 Boston University men's basketball team, it was announced today by Terrier head coach Dennis Wolff.
Last year, the trio helped lead the Terriers to a 23-6 overall record, at least a share of the team's third straight America East's regular-season championship, and an NIT appearance - the program's fourth straight post-season trip.
Last season, Carr was named to America East's All-Conference First Team along with earning a District I Second Team nod from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The guard led the Terriers in scoring, averaging 13 points per game.
Carr finished second to teammate Jason Grochowalski (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Worcester Academy) on the team and in America East rankings in free throw accuracy, making 80.4 percent of his free throw attempts during the season.
Wynn led the Terriers in steals and was second in the league in the category on his way to earning America East Defensive Player of the Year and All-Conference Third Team accolades.
Both Wynn and Carr finished among the top 10 in the conference in assists and in assist-to-turnover ratio. Wynn was eighth in assists (2.86 per game) while Carr was ninth (2.79). Wynn finished the season fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.89) while Carr was ninth (1.31).
Bell was second to Carr on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game, and was the Terriers' top rebounder, pulling down 6.8 boards per contest, good for seventh in America East.
B.U. opens the 2004-05 men's basketball campaign with a pair of home games against Holy Cross on Saturday, Nov. 20 (1 p.m.) and Fordham on Wednesday, Nov. 24 (2 p.m.).
