BOSTON - Junior forward Sedrick Chin (St. Mary's, Jamaica) scored the game-winning goal less than three minutes into the overtime period to lead the B.U. men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Massachusetts at Nickerson Field on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
With its third consecutive win, B.U. improves to 3-4-0 on the season. UMass falls to 3-5-0.
Both teams struggled to find scoring chances in the first half as the two teams combined for just six shots through the first 45 minutes of play.
UMass had a number of scoring opportunities in the second half as B.U. goalkeeper Chad Comroe (Dallas, TX) was forced to make three of his game-high four saves. Ralph Pace led the Minutemen with four shots, including two shots on goal.
As the Terriers held possession to open the overtime session, senior forward Brian Conway (Northville, MI) collected a throw in and raced down the left corner of the field. Conway sent a cross into the box which Chin redirected into the high right corner of the net for the game-winner at 92:56.
UMass goalkeeper Nick Billman finished with two saves in the losing effort.
The Terriers will look to push their current win streak to four games when they play host to America East rival Hartford on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
