Terriers Fall To Ninth-Ranked Fighting Irish, 2-0

Bloomington, IN - Ninth-ranked Notre Dame posted a 2-0 shutout victory over Boston University in the second round of the Adidas/IU Credit Union Classic on Sunday, Sept. 5.
The loss marked the second-straight defeat for the Terriers (0-2-0) at the hands of a Top 10 opponent. B.U. dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to top-ranked Indiana in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Sept. 3.
John Steven fed Jack Stewart for Notre Dame's first goal at 32:59 in the first half. Nate Norman provided the insurance goal, scoring at 60:42 in the second half.
Chris Sawyer made three saves in the victory.
Sophomore Zach Riffett (Brenham, TX) made four saves for the Terriers.
Notre Dame outshot B.U., 16-6, and had five of the game's eight corner kicks.
Following the game, the Tournament Awards were announced and sophomore goalkeeper Chad Comroe (Dallas, TX) was named the Tournament's Defensive MVP after making a career- and tournament record 14 saves in the opening round game against Indiana. Comroe was joined on the All-Tournament team by junior midfielder Jamie Johnson (Brisbane, Australia).
B.U. returns to the East Coast for regional action at Dartmouth on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 4:00 p.m.
