Five Women's Soccer Players Named NSCAA All-Region
December 20, 2005 | Women's Soccer
The Boston University women???s soccer team had five players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) all-Northeast Region team. Senior fullbacks Brittany McDonald (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Susan Marschall (Baton Rouge, La.), and senior forward Meghann Cook (Melrose, Mass.) were named to the first team, senior midfielder Brooke Bingham (Duxbury, Mass.) was named to the second team, and junior forward Lauren Erwin (Orange, Conn.) was named to the third team. BU had more all-region honorees than any other school, as the University of Connecticut was next closest with four members.
Cook, who was named NSCAA Second Team All-American ??? just the third player in school history to earn All-America status ??? led BU in scoring with 25 points in 2005, and ended her career as the school???s all-time leader in assists (25). McDonald was named first team all-America East and along with Marschall, helped the Terrier defense allow just 0.62 goals per game, the second-lowest total in school history. Marschall wrapped up her tenure at BU with 14 goals (9th all-time), eight assists and 36 points (11th all-time). Bingham earned her third consecutive first-team all-conference selection in 2005 and was named the league???s 2004 Midfielder of the Year. Erwin was named second-team all-conference and finished the season with 10 points (3G, 4 A)
BU finished 14-5-4 in 2005, won the America East regular season and tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history.
