Men's Soccer Falls To #17 Notre Dame, 1-0
September 10, 2005 | Men's Soccer
NOTRE DAME, Ind. ??? For the second time in a week, the BU men???s soccer team (1-2-0) fell just short in a tightly contested match against a nationally ranked opponent when #17 Notre Dame (2-1-0) shut out the Terriers, 1-0, in the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament at Alumni Field on Sept. 9. It was the identical one-goal game that plagued the Terriers against then #15 Boston College last weekend.
The lone goal of the contest came when the Fighting Irish???s Bright Dike fed the ball to Nate Norman, who beat BU goalkeeper Chad Comroe to the upper right corner from inside the box at 72:39. The late lead held through the remaining 17 minute to secure Notre Dame???s second win of the season and to maintain the Irish???s undefeated all-time record (4-0-3) in their tournament.
Junior captain Comroe recorded three saves in net for the Scarlet and White, compared to Chris Cahill???s two stops for Notre Dame.
The Irish held a 12-9 shot advantage and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Terriers will finish up tournament play as they take on the reigning national champion #1 Indiana on Sunday (Sept. 11) at 11:30 a.m. CDT.
