ORONO, Maine - Sophomores Jin Oh (Dededo, Guam) and Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill.) each scored a pair of goals and classmate Dan Schultz (Cincinnati, Ohio) added another to lead the Boston University men's soccer team (9-4-4, 4-3-1 America East) past the University of Maine (0-17-0, 0-8-0 AE) 5-0 this morning in Orono, Maine. With the win, the Terriers clinch the fifth spot in the America East standings.
Oh and Hlavaty each scored one of their two goals of the game in the first half to give BU a 2-0 lead at the break. Oh scored from the center of the field, five yards out, after a pass from freshman Samuel Appiah (Obuasi, Ghana) just 6:37 into the game. Hlavaty posted his first goal off an assist from Schultz at 16:57.
Oh scored again at 59:02 after receiving a pass from sophomore Jon Jonsson (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland) and beating a defender just inside the box. Hlavaty recorded his second goal at 62:47, unassisted, from the center of the field and four yards out. Schultz scored the game's final goal at 76:34 from the right side, with the assist from senior Jarryd Goldberg (Basking Ridge, N.J.).
Senior Zach Riffett (Brenham, Tex.) played 45:00. Sophomore Hrafn Davidsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) played 37:57, and red-shirt freshman Joe Cullaro (New York, N.Y.) played 7:03 in goal for the Terriers. Davidsson made three saves and Cullaro made one.
BU outshot Maine 17-7 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
