Zach Kirby Named NSCAA First Team All-Northeast Region
November 29, 2006 | Men's Soccer
BOSTON - Senior Zach Kirby (Marietta, Ga.) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I First Team All-Northeast Region team announced today.
This is the third time in his career Kirby has received honors from the NSCAA. As a junior he earned second team notice, and as a sophomore he received a spot on the third team.
Kirby, the 2006 America East Defender of the Year and three-time All-America East selection, led a BU defense that turned in eight shutouts this past season. He captained a Terrier backfield that limited opponents to one or fewer goals in 18 of 19 games this season, and the 12 goals allowed by BU fell one shy of tying the program record of 11 set in 1985.
Boston University finished the 2006 season with a 10-4-5 record after the Terriers fell in penalty kicks, 6-5, to Binghamton University in the America East Tournament semifinals.
