Swimming and Diving Competes at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Boston University swimming and diving program competed in a dual meet against Stony Brook on Saturday, as the women claimed a 172-111 victory. The men's squad fell by a 152-139 margin.
Ali Chester, Lidija Breznikar, Eve Kinsella and Brigette O'Shaughnessy opened the competition with a win in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of one minute, 50.92 seconds.
In the 1,000 free the Terriers swept the top three spots as Liisa Young clocked in with a winning time of 10:46.67, followed by Kristen Williams in 11:14.40 and Morgan Sawin in 11:16.12.
Eve Kinsella continued on her torrid pace in the 200 free, winning in 1:53.86. In Kinsella's next race, the 50 free, she picked up her second individual win of the night with a 24.72 time.
The Terriers took first and second in the 100 back as Chester and Christina Ruggiero finished in 1:00.75 and 1:01.66, respectively.
Alex Crerar claimed victories in both diving events - the 1- and 3- meters.
Breznikar picked up her first individual win with a 1:07.75 in the 100 breaststroke. Tanaz Irani finished with a winning time of 2:16.51 in the 200 fly.
BU swept yet another event, this time in the 200 back as Chester, Young and Katie Buchta finished first, second and third.
Breznikar, Marina Morie and Williams combined for a sweep in the 200 breaststroke. In the next event, Ruggiero won the 200 free.
On the men's side, Michael Bear took top honors in the 1000 free with a 10:21.19 time, while John Passaro was close behind finishing in 10:28.44.
Arik Seiler won the 200 free in 1:47.13 and Kyle Berg was the second-place finisher with a time of 1:49.80. Seiler also won the 100 free in 48.62.
Moodie Griffin placed first in the 100 breast with a 1:00.37.
James Lands, Ben Kaiser and Passaro swept first, second and third in the 200 fly. Lands finished in 2:02;59, while Kaiser and Passaro touched the wall in 2:03.95 and 2:06.46, respectively.
Brian Lawler continued to shine in the diving events picking up wins in the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
Kaiser won the 500 free in 4:57.82, while also claiming the win in the 400 IM.
BU returns to action on Dec. 9 at Maine. Competition begins at 1 p.m.
