
Men's Soccer Looks To Rebound Against Brown On Tuesday

BOSTON - The Boston University men's soccer team hopes to rally against Brown on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. after a 1-0 loss to UMass on Saturday, Sept. 29 snapped the Terriers' two-game win streak. The Bears have won the last two meetings.
The Terriers are an even 4-4-0 after the loss to the Minutemen. The Terriers and the Minutemen played to a scoreless draw in the first half, with BU controlling the offensive pressure and out-shooting UMass 7-5. The Terriers' best chances came just before the break. Junior Eric Gladney's (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) header at 43:13 was saved at point-blank range, and classmate Dan Schultz's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills School) shot off a set piece at 44:07 was saved as well. UMass's Stuart Amick scored the game winner off a rebounded save at 53:37.
Junior Petur Sigurdsson's (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland) three goals lead the Terriers on the year. Junior Neil Hlavaty (Lombard, Ill.) has two goals and four assists this season to lead BU in points and rank 30th in the nation. Sophomore goalkeeper Hrafn Davidsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) is the Terrier keeper on record, earning the decision in each of BU's eight contests. Davidsson has a goals against average (GAA) of 1.14 and a save percentage of .827.
Brown is undefeated at 6-0-1 coming into Tuesday's contest. Bruno's only blemish was a 2-2 tie against UC-Irvine in the team's last time out. Kevin Davies and Dylan Sheehan are tied with a team-leading six goals apiece. Paul Grandstrand and Jarrett Leach split time in net for the Bears. Grandstrand has a GAA of 0.95 and a save percentage of .778, while Leach has recorded a GAA of 1.00 and a save percentage of .812.
The Bears are on top in the all-time series, 16-13-2, which dates back to the 1969 season. The Terriers are 9-5-1 against Bruno under head coach Neil Roberts. Brown has won the last two straight games by the score of 1-0. There have been three overtime games, but the last contest to require extra time was a 2-2 tie in 1990.
BU finishes up a four-game road swing and opens its 2007 conference slate with Binghamton on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in Vestal, N.Y.
