
Men's Soccer Faces Hartford on Wednesday

BOSTON - Looking to extend its unbeaten streak to five games, the Boston University men's soccer team travels to West Hartford, Conn. to play Hartford on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. on Al-Marzook Field.
Boston University (8-5-1, 2-1-1 America East) earned a 2-1 win over Stony Brook in the Terriers last time out. After a scoreless first half, BU got on the board twice in the first three minutes of the second half, getting goals from sophomores Samuel Appiah (Obuasi, Ghana) and Shaun Taylor (Sandown, England).
Freshman Aaron O'Neal (Virginia Beach, Va.) leads BU in scoring with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Red-shirt sophomore Joe Cullaro (New York, N.Y.) has taken over for injured classmate Hrafn Davidsson (Reykjavik, Iceland). Cullaro has recorded two shutouts in his four starts this year and has a goals against average (GAA) of 0.69 and a save percentage of .786 through six games.
Hartford (6-4-3, 1-1-2 AE) is coming off a double-overtime, scoreless tie with Vermont on Oct. 20. UH is in the midst of a rough patch, winning just one of the team's last six games. Andreas Blamo leads the Hawks with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Gary Muir and Kevin Hall each have three goals. Goalie Matt Glaeser has started all 13 games in net for Hartford and has a GAA of 1.01 and a save percentage of .800.
The Terriers hold a 17-7-1 advantage in the all-time series which dates back 1985. BU won the first seven games of the rivalry. Seven contests have required extra time - the last coming in 2004. Boston University and Hartford played through two overtimes before recording a 1-1 draw.
Next up, Boston University hosts UMBC on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. on Nickerson Field.
