CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Boston University sophomore guard Corey Lowe (Newton, Mass.) received his second consecutive America East Player of the Week honor after scoring a career-high 35 points in the Terriers' 76-67 win over Yale last Tuesday. Lowe garnered league recognition last week after posting his first career double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds against Harvard on Dec. 4.
Lowe shot 13-for-20 (.650) from the floor, including a career-high seven 3-pointers versus the Bulldogs. The guard tallied three rebounds and two assists as he shot 53.8 percent from the 3-point line (7-for-13). He has now scored 20 or more points in three-straight games; Lowe joins Carlos Strong as the second Terrier to string together three straight 20-plus point games this year. They are the only conference players to have done so in 2007-08.
Against Yale on Dec. 11, the Bulldogs went ahead 5-0 early in the first half, but the Terriers went on a 17-4 run, keyed by the first of Lowe's seven threes. The sophomore made five of BU's eight first-half 3-pointers. The Terriers ran out to a 27-14 lead after two Yale turnovers led to two straight BU baskets. During that rally Lowe went on a personal 9-0 run, hitting three straight treys.
The Terriers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 22 when BU heads to Delaware to face the Fightin' Blue Hens at 7 p.m. in the Bob Carpenter Center.
