BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team continues to rake in the post-season awards as junior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge and sophomore Emily Pallotta were named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Second Team, as announced by the association on Tuesday.
Schumacher-Hodge was recently honored as an NSCAA All-Northeast Region Third Team member after leading the team in points with 14 on four goals and six assists. The midfielder out of Pittsburgh, Pa., earned America East All-Conference First Team accolades and netted the game-winning goal against Binghamton in the conference semifinals.
Pallotta (Andover, Mass.) patrolled the outside flanks all year, starting in every contest. She scored four goals and added an assist, picking up game-winners against Princeton on Sept. 2, Stony Brook on Oct. 21 and UNH on Nov. 10. Her three game-winning goals led the team. She also finished third on the team in points (9) and ended in a three-way tie for second in goals (4). For her efforts, Pallotta was named to the all-conference first team and the all-tournament team.
BU finished the season with an 11-7-3 overall record, and claimed the AE regular-season crown. After defeating UNH in the championship game, the Terriers earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. BU fell, 2-1, to fourth-seeded Wake Forest in the first round.
