BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming and diving took hosted New Hampshire and Northeastern on Saturday afternoon at Competition Pool and earned eight first-place finishes - including three from junior Eve Kinsella. The Terriers beat New Hampshire, 158-141, but lost to Northeastern 154-145.
Kinsella picked up her first win of the day in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at one minute, 54.52 seconds, and then followed up with victories in the 100 free (53.07) and 200 IM (2:08.42). Junior Tess Waresmith was also a multi-event winner, as dove to two first-place finishes on the one- and three-meter boards, respectively. She earned scores of 330.00 (1M) and 317.36 (3M).
Junior Christina Ruggiero touched the wall in 10:26.89 in the 1000 free to beat all her competitors. The final individual swimmer to earn a first-place finish for the Terriers was Brigette O'Shaughnessy, who finished the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.47. O'Shaughnessy was also narrowly edged by teammate Kinsella in the 200 IM, by just .05 seconds.
The Terriers closed out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, as Kirsten Tullis swam the opening leg of the race, and Maria McIntyre, Emily Munday and Kinsella closed out the event to finish in 1:38.50.
The Terriers compete at Boston College on Jan. 29 at 6:00 p.m.
