Swimming and Diving Sweeps Stony Brook

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team bounced back on Saturday with a 200-100 victory against Stony Brook, while the men's squad remained undefeated with a 188-110 decision over the Seawolves.
The women opened the meet with a triumph in the 200-medley relay, with sophomore Maria McIntyre leading off, followed by freshman Kristen Connors, sophomore Joanna Weinstein and senior Eve Kinsella. The relay finished in one minutes, 49.40 seconds. The second-place team of freshman Francesca Ferrante, sophomore Kirsten Tullis, sophomore Emily Munday and sophomore Sarah Doersam finished in 1:50.32.
Junior Brigette O'Shaughnessy led a sweep of the 1000 free with a time of 10:18.22. She was followed by sophomore Andrea Doersam (11:05.63) and junior Kristen Williams (11:13.48). O'Shaughnessy later won the 200 fly in 2:10.55.
Ferrante, Doersam and McIntyre earned the squad's second sweep with 1-2-3 finishes in the 100 back, with Ferrante winning in 1:00.66. Connors, a participant in the 2008 Olympic Trials, won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.65 and Munday claimed victory in the 50 free (25.05).
For the second consecutive week, senior Tess Waresmith led a sweep on the 1M and 3M , followed by senior Alex Crerar and sophomore Sarah Colton.
Back in the pool, Kinsella won the 100 free in 53.27, and Ferrante won the 200 back in 2:11.48. Kinsella later picked up another win in teh 200 IM with a time of 2:09.76.
The men also opened the meet with first and second finishes in the 200-medley relay, as freshman Justin Gilmartin, sophomore Kyle Ernst, sophomore Matt Rickett and freshman Jackson Hill touched the wall with a winning time of 1:37.70.
Hill picked up his first individual win of the afternoon in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.15, and sophomore Bryon Kallert (54.63) and Gilmartin (54.90) followed up with 1-2 finishes in the 100 back. Ernst kept the momentum going with a win in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 59.85 - the only competitor on Saturday to break one minute - and sophomore Mark Nakanishi won the 200 fly in 1:59.97.
Senior Andre Watson won the 1M with a score of 296.92 and on the 3M with a score of 279.30.
The freshman duo of Daniel Kempf and Hill took first and second, respectively, in the 100 free with times of 48.59 and 49.02.
