BOSTON - Women's soccer student-athletes Elizabeth Speck and Marisha Schumacher-Hodge have been selected to play in the annual New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, which will be played on Sunday, Dec. 7, at Salem State. Kick off is set for 11 a.m. Both athletes were tied in their respective positions as the top vote-getters among coaches selecting the team.
Speck was recently named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, following a standout senior campaign as a member of the Terriers' backline. She has started every game and has also contributed on the offensive front with an assist at UMBC (Oct. 23).
Schumacher-Hodge, the 2008 and 2006 Midfielder of the Year, led with five goals. She has also played a key role in several of the Terriers' 2008 highlights, including her corner kick that led to a thrilling golden goal at Hartford in the regular-season finale. A three-time first-team all-conference honoree, Schumacher-Hodge was selected as one of 30 candidates for the Lowe's Senior Class Award and most recently earned the inaugural America East Fan's Choice Player of the Year.
In conjunction with the game, there will be a food drive that will be held on Salem State's campus.
