BOSTON -
2008 America East Rookie and Midfielder of the Year Michael Bustamante received second-team Freshman All-America honors from Soccer America, the publication announced Wednesday. A native of Chelsea, Mass., Bustamante was the team's assist leader with nine and was second in points with 13 total.
An unanimous first-team all-conference honoree and a NSCAA All-Northeast Region second-team selection, Bustamante finished the season ranked third in the league and 16th in the NCAA with a 0.47 assist per game average, which was the top mark among all freshmen. One of his two goals scored was a game-winner in a 1-0 victory against Stony Brook, which kicked off BU's 10-game unbeaten streak.
Bustamante is the second-straight Terrier to earn the honor, as 2007 AE Rookie of the Year Aaron O'Neal received Freshman All-America third-team honors from CollegeSoccerNews.com last year.
