Senick Captures 500m Dash at Husky Winter Carnival

BOSTON - Sophomore Joel Senick of the Boston University men's indoor track and field team won the 500-meter dash as the Terriers opened their season at the Husky Winter Carnival on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Senick ran a 1:03.55 to top the field of 30, while junior Mark Mazzochette finished eighth with a 1:06.98.
Junior Jeff Moreau was BU's top finisher in the distance events, completing the 1,000-meter run in 2:34.83, good for second overall and first among collegians at the meet.
Senior Jason Nardella finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles after posting a 7.88 in the preliminaries.
The Terriers' 4x400 relay team of freshman Kedzie Teller, junior Max Esposito, Mazzochette and Senick crossed fourth in 3:25.18 and junior Kodjo Wilder had BU's best result in the field events, finishing fifth with a long jump of 6.70m. Esposito also posted the seventh-best time in the 400-meter dash with a 50.85.
The Terriers are back in action on Dec. 13, competing in the Harvard Open in Allston.
