BOSTON - Junior Emily Pallotta netted the game's lone goal and sophomore goalkeeper Janie Reilly made six saves, as the Boston University women's soccer team snapped Wisconsin's four-game win streak on Friday night at Nickerson Field. The Terriers improved to 3-3 overall, while the Badgers fell to 4-2.

Pallotta's first tally of the season came in the 25th minute of the contest, when she one-timed the ball into the upper left corner after a scramble inside the 18-yard box. Senior Marisha Schumacher-Hodge had taken a corner kick and on the ensuing rebound, Pallotta nailed a hard shot from just inside the 18-yard box for the game-winning tally.

Reilly earned her third shutout of the season with six saves, including a crucial stop in the waning minutes of the contest when Wisconsin's Laurie Nosbusch rocketed a shot to the upper left corner. Reilly came off her line and punched away the attempt to uphold the shutout.

In the first half, the majority of the action came in the midfield; however, juniors Casey Brown and Pallotta began to pepper Wisconsin's Jamie Klages with shots 15 minutes into the match. Pallotta's hard work paid off at 24:44 with the unassisted game-winner.

With two minutes remaining in the first stanza, the Badgers nearly evened the score as senior Sheri Ferron struck the cross bar with a laser from 18 yards out. The defense staved off the attack and went into the locker rooms at halftime with a one-goal advantage.

In the second half, BU was able to maintain possession for the majority of the first 20 minutes, but, neither team was able to create any serious scoring threat until Ferron's shot with 8:38 remaining. Reilly's clutch save proved to be the Badgers' last scoring threat; however, they continued to press the Terriers' defense in the final minutes. Reilly and the BU backline, anchored by Brown and sophomore Lina Cords, withstood the furious charge by Wisconsin to earn their second straight victory.

BU will host cross-town rival Northeastern on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. The contest will be the first in a doubleheader with the men's team, which faces off with Rhode Island at 4:30 p.m.
