
Women's Swimming and Diving Downs Stony Brook, 191-109

BOSTON - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team defeated Stony Brook, 191-109, on Saturday afternoon at Competition Pool to remain undefeated in dual-meet action at 7-0 this season. Freshman Lauren Drake had a standout afternoon, recording three individual wins, while diver Sarah Colton swept both boards, posting scores of 259.50 and 261.30 on the 1M and 3M, respectively.
The women's side opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-medley relay, as the squad of Emily Munday, Clara Van Allen, Kirsten Tullis and Kara Zebrowski finished with a winning time of 1:47.07.
In the first individual race of the afternoon Amanda Schmitz and Morgan Sawin claimed the top two spots in the 1,000 free with times of 10:30.49 and 10:55.22, respectively. Schmitz's time was her best time in a dual meet this season. Francesca Ferrante won the 100 back in 1:00.59, while Munday (1:05.36) and Van Allen (1:07.79) went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke. Munday's time shaved over three seconds off her personal best in a dual meet this season.
Lauren Drake sprinted to victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.20, then followed it up with a win in the 100 free (52.16) and completed her three-win day with a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.91. Her latter two times were season bests for the rookie.
After a series of events where Stony Brook claimed first place, Sarah Doersam returned BU to the top of the podium with a victory in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.10. The duo of Maria McIntyre and Paige Fults went 1-2 in the 100 fly with times of 59.50 and 59.81, respectively - the lone two times to break the one-minute barrier in the event on Saturday. Fults' time was also a career best for the rookie.
Colton led 1-2-3 sweeps on both the 1M and 3M. Colton's scores on the 1M (259.50) and 3M (261.30) qualified her for the Zone Diving Championships in March. Following in second place on both events was Bailey O'Brien (1M, 212.18; 3M 214.05) and in third place was Anne Holden (1M, 192.23; 3M 200.20).
