BOSTON - In a showdown between the America East Conference's top two teams, the first-place Boston University women's soccer team (8-5-0, 3-0-0 AE) will take on Hartford (4-6-3, 1-0-2 AE) on Thursday evening at UH's Al-Marzook Field at 7 p.m.
BU, which has now won 25 of its last 26 matches against America East foes dating back to 2007, has won back-to-back contests against the Hawks. However, Hartford holds the slim 9-8 advantage in the all-time series record.
The Terriers and Hawks are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the conference at this stage of the season. BU, which maintains a stronghold on first place in the league standings, lead the league in points (67), goals (24), assists (19), goals-against average (0.77) and shutouts (7). On an individual level, graduate student Lisa Kevorkian leads the America East in points (18) and goals (8) and is tied with junior Jessica Luscinski for game-winning goals (3). The goalkeeping duo of Alice Binns (1st, 0.51) and Kelly King (2nd, 1.01) sits atop the conference in goals-against average, while Binns boasts the league's best save percentage (.897).
Head coach Nancy Feldman, now in her 16th-year at the helm and the program's only coach, is three wins away from her 200th win at Boston University. Feldman, a 22-year coaching veteran, currently ranks 13th all-time with 289 career victories and 12th among Division I coaches.
Thursday's contests sets the Terriers off on a four-game road stretch that will include Vermont (Oct. 10), Dartmouth (Oct. 13) and Binghamton (Oct. 17).
