BOSTON - For the first time in 15 years, the Boston University women's swimming and diving team has earned back-to-back titles at the America East Championships. The Terriers defended their title, backed by more record-breaking performances from the women's team, including senior Brigette O'Shaughnessy, sophomore Amanda Schmitz and the 400-free relay team. Freshman diver Melinda Matyas swept both boards over the weekend as well.
Matyas was named the Diver of the Meet for her victories on both boards, which included Sunday's triumph on the one-meter with a score of 524.60. Junior Bailey O'Brien placed second with a score of 439.50 - as BU continued its stronghold on the diving boards.

Placing second in the 1650 free, O'Shaughnessy improved on her school record in the event with a time of 16:56.26. Schmitz broke yet another school record - this time in the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.42 - to claim her third title of the weekend.
To close out the weekend and put an exclamation point on the championship, the 400-free relay team broke an America East and BU record with a time of 3:23.53. Senior Emily Munday led off the race, followed by junior Kirsten Tullis, freshman Lauren Drake and junior Maria McIntyre.
It is the third time in program history BU has won back-to-back titles (1991-92, 1994-95).
