Softball Drops 3-0 Decision to No. 23 UMass

AMHERST, Mass. - The Boston University softball team's (18-11, 3-0 AE) eight-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday afternoon as it dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 23 Massachusetts (22-7). Junior April Setterlund and freshman Taylor Cowan recorded hits for the Terriers, while senior Cassidi Hardy was charged with the loss in the pitcher's circle.

The Terriers faced stiff competition in UMass' dominant pitcher Sara Plourde, who currently leads the nation in strikeouts with an average of 13.1 Ks per game. Setterlund and Cowan managed to record hits off Plourde with a single and a double, respectively.

Hardy went four innings, allowing three runs off six hits. She finished her game with one strikeout and one walk. Freshman Whitney Tuthill pitched the final two innings and surrendered just two hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The Terriers will host Big East foe UConn on Thursday (April 8) at BU Softball Field at 4 p.m.
