GAME 1: BU 15, Bucknell 0 (5 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ricard opened and ended the top of the first with a swinging strikeout.
- After freshman Irys Kline and senior Brooke Deppiesse led off with walks, Coyle plated both with a triple down the right field line and scored on Lyons' RBI single up the middle.
- The Terriers followed in the second inning with three runs off five hits, including Coyle's two-RBI single and pair of RBI hits from Lyons and Apalit.
- In the third, junior Kylie Doherty and Coyle hit back-to-back two-out RBI triples to set up another RBI single from Lyons.
- BU put away the game with six more runs during the fourth inning off just three hits with Coyle delivering a two-out grand slam to left and Apalit adding a two-run homer.
- The Bison managed one single in the first and another in the third but were unable to advance a runner to second, including in the fourth when they earned a walk and hit into a 6-4-3 double play.
- Nell sealed the run-rule decision with back-to-back strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Following a scoreless first, Lyons earned a lead-off walk, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Bucknell's two-out throwing error for the 1-0 lead.
- After Ricard earned a pair of strikeouts in the top of the third, Doherty singled to left with two outs and eventually scored alongside Coyle (walk) and Lyons (walk) on Apalit's grand slam to left to extend the lead to 5-0.
- The Terriers added four more runs in the fourth off two hits and three walks with Coyle delivering a two-out, two-RBI single to left.
- Lyons quickly added an RBI single and drew a rundown between first and second to help Coyle score from third for the 9-0 advantage.
- Ricard retired the side with a ground out, infield pop up and swinging strikeout to claim the no-hitter.
- Ricard tied Terrier alum Cassidi Hardy ('10) for the program record at five career no-hitters.
- BU's all-time winningest pitcher also tied Lehigh's Lisa Sweeney ('09) for the PL record at 94 career victories.
- Coyle's nine RBIs topped the previous program high of seven achieved previously by April Setterlund ('11) twice, Gabi Martinez ('17), Emily Gant ('22) and Coyle herself last season at Holy Cross.
- The nine RBIs also tied a Patriot League record set in 1997 and 2004 while matching a season high earned by four other NCAA Division I players.
- Owner of a 32-7 record in the all-time series, BU scored 10+ runs for just the second time ever against the Bison after posting a 14-7 road win last season in a 15-inning thriller.
- The Terriers last earned a DH shutout sweep in 2024 with a pair of 1-0 decisions, including one that went 12 innings.
- The Terriers will wrap up the series against Bucknell on Saturday (April 4) with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
