Coyle, Ricard Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping the Boston University softball team claim a shutout series sweep over Bucknell in run-rule fashion, seniors Megan Coyle and Kasey Ricard collected Patriot League weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Coyle batted .778 with 14 RBIs to earn her first career PL Player of the Week award, while Ricard posted a perfect 3-0 record with 17 strikeouts against just five hits and one walk allowed over 13.0 innings of work for her 18th career Pitcher of the Week honor.
A native of Herndon, Virginia, Coyle started off the series against the Bison batting 4-for-4 with two triples, a single and grand slam homer to total a program-record and conference record-tying nine RBIs. She then went 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored and wrapped up the competition batting 2-for-3 with a solo HR and three RBIs.
In the circle, Ricard tallied five strikeouts as part of a 15-0 (5) combined shutout and then claimed her first no-hitter of the season and BU record-tying fifth of her career with the help seven strikeouts. Lastly, the now PL record 18-time Pitcher of the Week earned five more strikeouts against three hits in 4.0 innings of work.
The Terriers will next conclude their nine-game homestand by hosting Providence in a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
