Softball Heads to UMass for Tuesday Afternoon Tilt

BOSTON – Having concluded conference play with one week remaining, the 2026 Patriot League regular season champion Boston University softball team will visit non-conference rival UMass on Tuesday with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
The Terriers are currently riding a six-game win streak after sweeping Holy Cross over the weekend at home by a combined score of 42-14. while UMass is coming off a 2-1 performance at Bowling Green as part of its first year in the Mid-American Conference.

- BU is 12-6 in true road games with non-conference victories at Harvard (11-6), Yale (7-0, 8-1) and then-No. 20/23 Duke (9-8 10 inn.). The Terriers last dropped a 4-1 decision at Providence on April 15 and at home most recently blanked Rhode Island, 6-0, last Tuesday to give 11th-year head coach Ashley Waters her 400th career victory.
- Owner of both the BU and Patriot League single-season record for RBIs with the nation's currently No. 2 ranked total at 81, junior Kylie Doherty is batting a team-high .399 with 24 homers and 57 runs scored.
- Senior Brooke Deppiesse is second batting .384 with team-high 60 runs scored, 11 doubles, six homers, four triples and 43 RBIs, while classmate Megan Coyle (.343) owns 52 RBIs alongside 41 runs scored.
- In the circle, senior Kasey Ricard (28-6, 2.93 ERA) has totaled 203 strikeouts over 210.0 innings of work with three saves, while classmate Haley Ganino (7-2, 3.94 ERA) has totaled 24 strikeouts in 64.0 innings with a save
- The Terriers are batting .337 and holding opponents to .243 with 78-46 lead in doubles and 57-35 advantage in homers.
- UMass is 6-5 at home this season with a 2-0 mark against non-conference opponents thanks to wins over Dartmouth (9-1, 6 inn.) and most recently Brown, 2-1, back on April 14.
- UMass collected a pair of home wins against Buffalo (3-2, 4-21, 5-4 8 inn.) and went 1-2 last weekend against Akron with the three contests decided by a combined four runs.
- Odyssey Torres is batting a team-high .414 with three homers, 12 doubles and 23 runs scored, while Brooke Musch (.317) owns a team-high 28 runs scored along five.
- Hannah Streicher (10-13, 3.45 ERA) has totaled 80 strikeouts in 158.1 innings of work, having gone the distance 18 times, while Kelsey Blanchette (5-9, 6.48 ERA) earned 39 strikeouts in 75.2 innings.
- UMass is batting .259 at this time and is holding opponents to .310 with leads in doubles (71-510),
- UMass leads the all-time series, 15-9, but the Terriers are currently on a five-game win streak that dates back to a 7-4 win in a neutral contest hosted by Hofstra in 2018.
